Show up at a Makerparkradio anniversary event and you will find a tight-knit, diverse group of music lovers taking tickets, selling shirts, and serving beers to music fans from far and wide. All the work, all the dirt, and all the noise are part of what makes MPR events so meaningful to the community. We’re starved for the connection we found in small clubs, record shops, and block parties no longer. Every city needs community radio and affordable community music events.
Community radio plays a crucial role in fostering local engagement and providing a platform for diverse voices. By promoting local talent, discussing pertinent local issues, and enabling citizen participation, community radio strengthens community ties and empowers individuals. It serves as an accessible medium for education, advocacy, and cultural expression, contributing to a more informed and cohesive local arts scene.
“The energy last night perfectly reflected the positivity and joy MPR has brought since its inception, every band brought their A-game. I am so grateful and proud to be a part of this number, and beyond thrilled to share this magic with new and old faces.” -Nazz
“The shows keep getting bigger and better. The 7th anniversary show was the biggest crowd we’ve had yet. And they were electric! It was great to see the community support but we’re also attracting more and more people from the other boroughs and beyond. Such a fire show.” -Demystify Neil
“Celebrating seven years is so surreal! Having been lucky enough to have been a part of this station since day one, it has been a true joy to watch what we’ve become with both our DJ family, as well as the lasting community impact that just grows stronger with each year. I love MPR!” -magievision
